Jay was born in Java, Indonesia and trained as an engineer. She moved to Australia in 2001 and with her husband, became an Australia citizen. She has been studying gemology and has been enjoying the process of making jewelry.

Jay writes: "My jewelry is enriched with ornamental gemstone in various colours as well as different kind of glass, resin, wood with metal, leather, ribbon, etc. I also am able to thread or rethread pearls. Hopefully my jewelry can brighten the mood of the wearer."
