Maki was born on Hokkaido, the northernmost island in Japan
and spent many formative years in a small village by the sea.
She loved the sounds, colours and movement of the ocean.

Maki first became interested in art in high school, joined the painting club there
and went on to study painting in college. She has held exhibitions in Japan
and, since moving to Queensland in 2005,
holds yearly exhibitions of her paintings at:
Marks and Gardner Gallery on Tamborine Mountain.
Her next exhibition will take place there from May 1 - 30, 2010.
Her work is also shown at Ardleigh Cleveland Gallery
at the Hyatt Regancy Coolum, Sunshine Coast,
and she held exhibitions at the Main Street Gallery in Montville, also on the Sunshine Coast from 2005-2008 .
Maki's work can also be seen at Paintbox Fine Art in Canberra, and she is planning an exhibition there in October, 2010.
Some of Maki's recent paintings can be seen on-line at the above gallery homepages or here or on her own homepage.
Six books of her paintings together with poems they have inspired,
as well as a children's story she has illustrated, are published by Mountain Dreams Press
and are available by contacting us.

Maki's first ceramics exhibition will be at Tokonoma Gallery in Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast from 5 -26 December, 2009.

Maki's dream boxes, birds, and wall hangings can be bought in our on-line shop.
Her other ceramic work and drawings can be seen at Mountain Dreams and make a visit definitely worthwhile.
Her ceramic work carries the same soft and mysterious spirit as her paintings.
